Trees for Life receives over $2M to plant up to 600,000 new trees from the 2 Billion Trees Program

We’re proud to announce that Trees for Life will receive over $2 million in funding from the Ministry of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) as part of the 2 Billion Trees Program for 2022.

With this funding, we’ll plant up to 600,000 trees in locations across the country, in addition to over 700,000 that will be planted by the Highway of Heroes Tree campaign this year.

That’s 1.3 million trees being planted!

Thank you!

None of this would be possible without our growing network of enthusiastic supporters like you!

We’ve accomplished so much and with your help, we’ve built a truly national movement to help Canadian communities plant more trees.

The Challenge

Successful tree planting begins and ends with community ownership. That’s why, the 2 Billion Tree Program requires Trees for Life, like other funded organizations, to raise funds matching their $2M+ investment.

Our Story Continues

We can’t wait to tell you about this year’s plantings. We are confirming plans in communities from British Columbia to New Brunswick, working with municipal governments, nursery partners, Indigenous Peoples, and conservation authorities. Stay tuned for all the updates.

Together, we can ensure that our upcoming plantings grow to become

1.3M healthy trees strong enough to protect the communities they serve.
