We are proud to announce our partnership with theMcLeod Lake Indian Band (MLIB) - members of the Tse’Khene people – located in Northern B.C.

After a spruce beetle infestation devastated 3,750 hectares of forests on their reserve land, The Mcleod Lake Indian Band launched a multi-year reforestation project to replant the forest and improve the environment for future generations.

Gat’ Azi - Gat ‘ Cho, which (Little Trees - Big Trees), will plant a total of 6 million spruce and pine seedlings. Trees for Life is proud to fund 200,000 of those seedlings!

Planting began last May after salvage harvesting and silviculture activities were completed to prepare the land. The benefits of the project can already be seen in the local ecosystem and area wildlife. As the forest continues to establish itself, the project will yield its most impressive results, increasing the land’s water retention and carbon sequestration capacity and offering significant economic opportunities for future generations.

We look forward to sharing more exciting highlights from this amazing Indigenous-led restoration project.

We encourage you to learn more about this exciting project on the

Little Trees – Big Trees GAT’AZI – GAT’CHO website.
