TFL Activities Supporting National Forest Week and National Tree Day

This is an exciting week for trees. September 20th, on the beautiful grounds of Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto, will mark the start of the planting of over 600 trees in honour of Sunnybrook’s healthcare providers and in memory of those who lost their lives due to Covid-19. These plantings will increase local biodiversity by enhancing the arboretum on the hospital’s grounds and will help to advance the hospital’s goal to increase its tree canopy.  It will also provide a much-needed nature escape from the unique stresses healthcare professionals face every day. This collaboration adds another exciting project under our Trees for Heroes campaign banner.  Many thanks to Bullfrog Power and St. Joseph Communications for their support of this event.

On National Tree Day, September 21st, we’ll be planting 100 trees at Pierre Rocque Park in Ottawa, in partnership with the Ontario Association of Cemetery and Funeral Professionals (OACFP) and Beechwood Cemetery, supported by Meridian Bank.  These trees will honour those that helped the local community through the pandemic. A special ceremony will also take place at Beechwood Cemetery that same day, honouring those who lost their lives to Covid-19.
