Pro Tree care tips from Mark Cullen

Top tips for protecting your trees through the winter.

Evergreens: can be susceptible to salt damage known as “salt drift” from nearby roads.  Wrap them with two layers of burlap in late fall.

Fruit trees: up to 5 years old, are often damaged by hungry rodents that like to eat the bark of young trees. Use a plastic, spiral wrap to protect the trunk (note: we use thousands of these on our trees at Trees For Life)

Shade trees: like a deep watering before the hard frost of winter.  Believe it or not, the ice that forms around their roots acts like insulation from the freeze/thaw cycles we experience in Canada.
