Lynde Shores Conservation Area Restoration (CLOCA) – Whitby, Ontario

Funding Gap: $112,500

In 2022 we will continue our partnership with CLOCA, focused on the Lynde Shores Conservation Area.  Once complete, the addition of 3,000 trees this year will bring the total to over 7,000 new trees at the site. The conservation area protects the significant natural heritage features and functions found within two provincially significant coastal wetlands (Lynde Creek Marsh and Cranberry Marsh) and their diverse uplands. The trees serve to protect the shoreline against flooding and erosion, one of the many impacts of climate change. The area provides many important core natural heritage system functions, like habitat for nesting birds and migrating waterfowl and shorebirds among other benefits.
