McLeod Lake Indian Band, Little Trees - Big Trees Reforestation Project – McLeod Lake, British Columbia

Funding Gap: $185,000

The McLeod Lake Indian Band (MLIB) are members of the Tse’Khene people, known leaders in Indigenous-led conservation. Much of their reserve lands have been devastated by spruce beetle infestation. To restore the land, and ensure sustainability, the community will plant 6 million spruce and pine seedlings. Little Trees-Big Trees also benefits wildlife, water retention, recreation, aesthetics and fiber assets for future generations. The restoration of 3,750 hectares began in 2021 and will continue in 2022.  TFL is funding the planting of 200,000 trees.
