Another Tree-mendous Day with AGF!
Thank you to AGF management and staff for helping plant over 500 trees on Wednesday, October 16, at Indian Trail Campground in Brampton, ON, a hidden gem in the heart of northwest Toronto! Located at the headwaters of the Humber and Don Rivers, the effort to plant here is part of TFL’s partnership with the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA), to add 3,000 trees to the region over the next year.
For some attendees, it was the second time they came out to plant in as many years saying they appreciate that AGF provides volunteer days and they love giving back to communities by enhancing the environment, spending the day outside, and showing their children the importance of caring for the planet now for their future. The TRCA expressed the need for more native trees and shrubs to help mitigate flooding from more frequent storm events, capture carbon (the site is near Hwy #427), cool hot city air, and provide food and shelter for wildlife.
Trees for Life is grateful for AGF’s partnership and contribution to projects that help maximize urban tree planting, and beautify our communities while supporting local biodiversity.
