Trees for Life and Landscape Ontario are excited to announce the Landscape Ontario Chapter Challenge to support the creation of a Hero Forest
Hero Forest:
a grove of trees dedicated to local heroes as a thank you for making our communities better places to live.
an example of what can be accomplished when a community unites to honour its heroes through the act of planting trees, and how collaboration between Chapter members can contribute to local tree planting goals.
can be further enhanced with outdoor shade structures, walkways, and interpretive signage.
Grant: $10,000
Eligibility: Every Chapter of Landscape Ontario
Application Deadline: March 31, 2025
Funding Period: Projects must be completed within 12 months of grant approval.
Grant Criteria:
Each Chapter is encouraged to match the Grant as many times as possible through both cash and in-kind support
The project site must be accessible to the public
The project must involve planting native trees and/or shrubs
The project must include permanent signage at the site recognizing the support of Trees for Life and Landscape Ontario.
Application Requirements:
A detailed project proposal, including:
Location and site details, including permissions if required.
Number of native trees and shrubs.
Timeline for project completion.
Budget breakdown including: $10,000 grant, Chapter matching with cash and in-kind support.
Commitment to signage:
Include plans for permanent signage acknowledging Trees for Life and Landscape Ontario.
