We are raising funds to plant millions of the right trees in the right place over the next 10 years to have the biggest impact on the climate and to support Canada’s 2 Billion Tree Program. Click here to see the impact we were able to make in 2021 with your help.
A recent study by Nature United found that Canada can reduce 78 megatons of carbon emissions by 2030, in part by “protecting, better managing and restoring nature.” Forests planted by 2030 will increase their impact as they grow, supporting our ability to reach our carbon target of net-zero by 2050.
We are planting native trees and shrubs in order to support the local biodiversity and ecosystems. Our birds and pollinators depend on native species for their food and shelter. Populations decrease in these species when native species aren’t available. That’s why we only plant native trees and shrubs.

Trees for the Next Generation
GrandTrees Climate Solutions has been planting trees for future generations by identifying and funding the best tree planting initiatives in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.
Local partnerships are at the heart of this urban tree-planting mission. 25 organizations have been funded, planting hardy, native trees and shrubs.
“Green spaces strengthen social cohesion, spur community revitalization, and add economic value to our communities. With over 80% of Canadians living in cities, and the world getting hotter, the urban canopy is more important than ever.
Trees sustain life and they protect life. They are air conditioners, water filters, air purifiers, carbon sinks, homes for wildlife, and much, much more.”

Trees for Heroes
Since 2015, trees have been planted along the 401 Highway of Heroes route, in Ontario, in honour of those who volunteered to serve our country. 2 million trees in total with the 117,000 most prominent directly along the highway right-of-way.
Now, we’re bringing the Highway of Heroes plantings nation-wide; honouring those who served right across the country.
Not all Heroes have Served in War
The COVID-19 crisis showed us the true power of community. Bringing out the ‘hero’ in all of us.
Our frontline workers and first responders have been true heroes, acting quickly to save so many lives in these trying times.
But, not all heroes wear uniforms. Friends and family have stepped up to make sure that their loved ones have what they need and feel supported. Teachers are helping to create a better future by molding the minds of the next generation. Grocery store employees have kept food on the shelves and nourished the community.
COVID aside, there are people putting roofs over the heads of and food in the stomach of those living on the street. There are people protecting our wildlife and ecosystems. There are vets taking care of our pets. And our parents and grandparents, who literally gave us life and guided us to become the people that we are today.
We live in a global community where we are all heroes to someone. The person we smiled at walking down the street who felt invisible. The bird who had been searching for food and now has seed from your garden. The child who gets a laugh because of your funny faces.
And what better way to celebrate the hero in all of us than to plant a tree and be a hero for the environment.
